Hot Soup Summer

Summer is almost over and you must have been wondering: “Hey, what’s happened to the Black Soup newsletter?” Well, our newsletter monkeys have been enjoying some much deserved summer vacation, though rest assured we’ve been working fulltime behind the scenes. In any case you can now safely stop refreshing our company page as we’ve got an update ready for you. So grab your Gunnars and lock in as we tell you about our non-existent tan lines and busy summer schedule.

Abyssus - The Arcade Crew

Campaign timeframe: August

Falling into an abyss and getting your limbs jammed between a bunch of rocks for a period of 127 hours is not thaaat much fun. Exploring a deep-sea network below the ruins of an ancient civilization together with your fellow brine-hunting buddies however? Now that’s more like it!

For the release of Abysuss, we assembled various teams of explorers and sent them on a quest for brine, the magical substance that you didn’t know you needed. Safe to say the mission was a success, as the average brinehunter **cough streamer**, spent more than two hours extra in the abyss(us) and collected over 48 thousand hours watched on Twitch. Check out FlashGamesNemesis’ deep sea footage as he played together with Teo and Katie in what is probably the most casual sponsored video of 2025. The Game Awards should really update their nomination categories.

Our favorite part of watching all of the creators play Abyssus had to be when they discovered the shanties and dance emotes. Here’s Limealicious, Strippin, Bricky and Jabroni Mike harmonizing altogether. Big up’s to DoubleMoose and The Arcade Crew for creating an amazing deep-sea adventure!

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers - 505 Games

Campaign timeframe: July

China is demonstrating once again that they have a massive amount of talent in gaming. We were more than honoured to support 505 Games with the release of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, a Soulslike set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty.

Our efforts on the paid side resulted in 1.5 million views on YouTube, and a whopping 654k hours watched on Twitch thanks to our chosen creators continuing to venture deeper and deeper into WUCHANG. Normally those numbers would be more than enough to consider ourselves proud of the work we did, but our paid efforts can’t hold a candle to the organic results.

GameSir custom WUCHANG Fallen Feathers Xbox Controller

On the organic side, we reached out to hundreds of Soulslike fans, and the response was overwhelming. On YouTube, 190 creators who received keys covered WUCHANG, resulting in another 1.8m views generated. On Twitch, 102 creators who received keys ended up streaming the game for a total of 17 million hours watched! Oof.

What topped it all off, was how we got to support 505 by sending these beautiful custom WUCHANG controllers as a big thank you to all the creators who played the game on day one. Check your mail creators, they’re on their way!

Big congrats to Leenzee for this amazing game, and xièxiè to 505 Games and all the creators who partnered with us on this campaign.

Wildgate - Dreamhaven

Campaign timeframe: July

When our overseas friends at Leviathan Core asked us if we wanted to team up on Wildgate™, we responded with a resounding “hell yeah partner” - or at least in our minds we did. Being based in Europe we have great relationships with creators from France and Germany, which is exactly what the team from Leviathan Core was looking for.

Given a crystal clear briefing, our mission was perfectly laid out for us: identify German, French, Spanish and Portuguese speaking streamers that love to play shooters together. Not every campaign is always a breeze, but Wildgate was one of those where everything just clicked. Every single creator we reached out to responded, confirmed interest and went live as planned. Something even our most experienced campaign managers can only dream of.

Our campaign raked in an impressive 113 thousand hours watched on Twitch, though our highlight was seeing Bonjwa (DE) come back to Wildgate long after the campaign was over, but also this clip from Alphacast (FR). Salut ... Dégage ✌️

10 Commandments of Working with Content Creators

Do you ever feel like your religion of choice isn’t doing it for you anymore? Are you lost in life and in need of some guidance, especially when it comes to influencer marketing campaigns? If that’s the case, you may want to consider checking out our co-founder Timo Verschueren’s talk at this year’s INDIGO event.

In case you want to listen to Timo talk some more, yet prefer to not see his face (we get it), then tune in to the Xsolla podcast where Nathan Sölbrandt and Timo talk about how you can build a community for your game through content creators.

Gamescom Photo Dump

Even with an entire legion of orcs at your disposal, you would not have enough time to wait in line and play all the games at Gamescom. Nevertheless, we tried. Big thanks to Medienboard, who sponsored a booth for our friends over at Mostly Games and their game PEPPERED: an existential platformer. Enjoy our unfiltered photo collage of Gamescom.

We hope you enjoyed our Hot Soup Summer edition of the Black Soup newsletter. As always, stay soupy!
